Board member Bob Bath announced Porchfest in Grants Pass, the third annual event of its kind, to take place on June 15 from 11am to 3pm. Funds will be used to help at-risk youths. Volunteer performers will have 2-hour sets. Bob invited anybody in the JCGS who is interested in performing with him to contact him at bbath@budget.net. You can find additional information at porchfestgrantspass.org. Effective immediately, Matt Dorris will be president of the JCGS, and Grant Ruiz will be secretary. This is to accommodate Grant’s participation in the upcoming OSF play “La Comedia of Errors.” The guitar society has a few featured artists lined up for upcoming monthly meetings: Argentine tango guitarist Pablo Figueroa for May, the Folias Duo (flute and guitar) for August, and the Tenaya Duo (TBD). Stay tuned! Don’t forget to pay your dues! Only $20 for the year, payable any time during the calendar year. Since we are a 501(c)3 organization, dues (and any other contributions) are tax deductible. If everybody who attended Tuesday paid dues, we’d have about $800 for the year to go not only toward operating costs (federal and state dues, website maintenance, venue and marketing fees for concerts), but we could also help provide guarantees for visiting artists.
