Announcements: Cinzia Milani’s concert was a big success! We had close to 100 people in attendance at Grizzly Peak Winery on April 5, and Cinzia’s playing was magnificent. She had a great experience here and hopes to return to the Rogue Valley in the future. The concert and Cinzia’s outreach events (below) were supported in part by a grant from the Jackson County Cultural Coalition, funded by the Oregon Trust. GSSO is excited to host Canadian guitarist Pascal Valois in an intimate house concert in Ashland on Thursday, May 22 at 7pm. Pascal is a unique musician. He’s dedicated to reviving enthusiasm for the guitar scene during the Romantic era, what was known as the Great Vogue of the Guitar in the early decades of the 19th century. He performs music from the era by using various period instruments, ornamentation, stylistic practices of the period, as well as improvisation, which was customary then. Come experience the music in the setting where it was meant to be heard! Seating is limited to 40, so please reserve your seats early by using the buttons below. General admission is $25, and members pay $20. If you’re not a member yet, you can join by visiting our website. Once you make a reservation, we’ll send you the address for the concert along with other details. |
Outreach Corner
On the morning of Friday, April 4, Cinzia visited Mark Hampton’s guitar class at South Medford High School, with over 30 students attending. She described her journey with the guitar and played some pieces for them. The students were shocked to hear Cinzia’s virtuosity, and one student brought her mother to the concert the next night! The students also got a chance to play for Cinzia as well.
On Friday afternoon, Cinzia played at the Ashland Senior Center to a delighted audience of about 40 people. On Saturday afternoon, she played for an hour at the Jacksonville Community Center to a group of almost 50 people. Both audiences were very taken with her performances.
