Monthly Meeting Recap – July 2022

Dear guitar fans,
Please forgive the lateness of this recap. I thought I had already sent it out. Fortunately, there’s lots of news to include with this message. Please see ANNOUNCEMENTS below.
One performer wasn’t sure whether the last guitar gathering was on. Since we have the space reserved with Paschal Winery, you can assume the meetings occur every 2nd Thursday of the month unless you’re notified otherwise. Mark your calendars if you already haven’t! We will continue sending out reminders before the gatherings.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Grant Ruiz and Terry Longshore (a.k.a. Dúo Flamenco) will play at the Green Show TODAY (Wednesday, July 27) at 7:15pm. Yes, it will be hot but shaded. You can pretend you’re in Andalucia!

Grant will play solo guitar at Belle Fiore Winery this coming Sunday, July 31, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

Flamenco guitar and song master Diego Amador Jr. will return with dancer Savannah Fuentes to Ashland, performing at the Bellview Grange on Monday, August 8 at 7:30pm. For those of you who were lucky enough to see them April 29 at Grizzly Peak, you know that Diego is the real thing and a force of nature. Savannah is an elegant dancer with great footwork. Check this show out–it’s highly recommended! You can get tickets and info at eventbrite.com/e/night-flowers-an-evening-of-flamenco-ashland-tickets-381220820737.

The Talent Public Arts Committee and the Talent Business Alliance are sponsoring an event called Play Music on the Porch in on August 27 from 4-9pm. It looks similar to the PorchFest that Grants Pass has had for several years, which is a lot of fun. Please see talentbusinessalliance.org/musicontheporch for more information, including how to participate.
Unfortunately, Don Quixote at The Collaborative Theater Project in Medford was cancelled due to COVID. The current news is that the play is scheduled to open the next season in February, so check ctpmedford.org as the time grows closer.

Dayton Mason, who has played Gypsy Jazz with Dan Fellman at past guitar society meetings, is selling a beautiful classical guitar. I’ve played this myself, and it’s a fine instrument. You can see it at reverb.com/item/51901353-hans-schmidt-cr-1-1998-natural-nylon-classical-acoustic-electric.

Respectfully submitted,Grant RuizFlamenco and classical guitarist
