ANNOUNCEMENTS

Our own guitar society member Mary La has come out with a new book, an inspiring memoir entitled “The Great Unlearning” containing stories of challenge and transcendence. Each story is accompanied by Mary’s original conceptual photographs. You can get more information, see some of the artwork, order prints, and buy copies of this and her previous books at Mary-La.com.

Flamenco dancer Savannah Fuentes will perform with Spanish gypsy singer and guitarist Diego Amador Jr. on Friday, April 29 at 7pm at Grizzly Peak Winery’s Event Center. Tickets are now on sale. You can get them and more information by clicking here. This duo is truly dynamic, and Diego is a force of nature not to be missed!

Please mark your calendars for our May gathering, since there are two announcements for that month. First, we are changing the date for this month only to the third Thursday, May 19. The second announcement is that we are changing the date so that the amazing Folias Duo can play for us at the second half of the meeting as a stop on their west coast tour. Hopefully the weather will be nice enough for us to be outside!

Dan Fellman and Grant Ruiz will play guitar duets at Belle Fiore Winery on Sunday, Feb. 27 from 5-7pm.

Monthly Meeting Recap – January 2022

Dear friends of the guitar,

We had a sweet little gathering last night with fifteen people at Paschal enjoying an evening of guitar music and camaraderie, even without the social lubricant of food and wine. Thanks to all who also bought bottles of wine to help out. Current news indicates that the omicron variant may be reaching its peak in early-hit areas, so hopefully by this time next month more people will feel comfortable attending February’s gathering, and we’ll have fewer restrictions.

Our friends the Folias Duo are sharing a concert with virtuoso classical guitarist TY Zhang this Sunday at 1pm. If you look at any of the videos on his YouTube channel, you’ll see that he’s a stunning player. You can find out more about the concert at foliasmusic.com/event/january-go-series-with-ty-zhang/.

At last night’s meeting we announced that the amazing classical guitarist Yuri Liberzon would play a set at our February meeting; however, last night we got the disappointing news that he has to cancel his February tour in Oregon due to a number of factors. He hopes to reschedule later in the year, perhaps in the Spring. Stay tuned!
