We had a pretty full house last Thursday, with some lovely performances and an amazing featured artist. Read on!

~ Intermission ~

New York-based guitarist and composer Hiroya Tsumamoto (originally from Kyoto, Japan) played an enchanting set of guitar music that included seamless use effects and a looper pedal. The pieces were mostly original, with the exception of an Okinawa folk song.

Hiroya’s appearance was made possible by a grant from WESTAF/TourWest.
AnnouncementsSunday, August 17 (tonight) Grant Ruiz and Dan Fellman (Canto Sol) play at Tap & Vine at the Medford Center from 5-7pm.

Saturday, August 23, Mark Turnbull plays at La Baguette, 340 A St. Ashland, starting at 10:30am.

Thursday, August 28, Grant plays solo guitar at Liquid Lounge in downtown Ashland, 370 East Main St., from 6:00 to 8:00pm.

Wednesday, September 3, Grant plays solo guitar at Belle Fiore Winery, 100 Belle Fiore Lane, from 5:30 to 7:30pm.

Friday, September 5, Dan and Grant play at the Lithia Artisan’s Market at Lithia Park from noon to 2pm.

Friday, September 5, Grant plays solo guitar at OSF Gift Shop in downtown Ashland as part of the First Friday Art Walk, 5:30to 7:30pm.

Saturday, September 6, Dan and Grant play at Paschal Winery’s happy hour from 3:30 to 5:30pm.

And as an early heads-up, Dan and Grant will be playing at a special gourmet food and fine wine tasting by chef Alexandra Delaris Hannah of Ashland Gourmet Catering on Saturday, September 20. The event will be at Schmidt Family Vineyards in Grants Pass from 6-8:30pm, and the cost is only $40 per person! There were about 30 people in attendance last Thursday, with a small number of performers and no intermission, but with a lot of music and some magical moments.

AnnouncementsAt the next monthly meeting on August 14, the guitar society will host featured guitarist and composer Hiroya Tsukamoto, originally from Kyoto, Japan. He’s the first guitarist we’ve ever hosted who uses a looper (realtime recording and playback). You can check out some of his music here. As usual, local performers will play during the first half of the meeting, then Hiroya will play for us. His appearance is being made possible by a grant from TourWest/Creative West.

On Thursday, July 24, Grant Ruiz will play solo guitar at Liquid Lounge in downtown Ashland from 6:00 to 8:00pm. On Sunday, July 27, he and Dan Fellman (Canto Sol) will play at Paschal Winery in Talent from 3:30 to 5:30pm. And on Sunday, August 10, Grant will play solo guitar at Belle Fiore Winery in Ashland from 5:30 to 7:30.
 Outreach Corner

The guitar society, with the aid of a grant from TourWest/Creative West, sponsored a one-hour appearance at the Jacksonville Community Center by the Folias Duo, who were a big hit on the afternoon of June 21.
