Citterns and bandoras are not the most often heard instruments in our showcase concerts, but this season we have them! Together with lutes, violin, recorder and bass viol, you’ll hear traditional ballads and dances set for this lively combination of early music instruments. With music from the Cambridge Consort Books compiled by Matthew Holmes in 1588, this concert features the talents of James Bishop-Edwards (lute, cittern), David Rogers (lute, cittern), Steve Berman (bandora), Roma Sprung (gamba), Aaron Moffat (violin) and Pat O’Scannell (recorder). Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 3 PM, First Congregational Church (UCC), 717 Siskiyou Boulevard, Ashland. Visit jeffersonbaroque.org/JBO-showcase-concerts.html.

Grant Ruiz’s group Flamenco Pacifico has released their debut CD, Convivencia (Coexistence). You can order the CD or MP3s of the songs from cdbaby.com/cd/flamencopacifico. The MP3s are also available on iTunes and Amazon, and the CDs are available locally at the Music Coop in downtown Ashland or wherever Grant plays.

As a membership-based organization, the JCGS relies on annual dues ($20) to continue operating. We encourage all people who attend meetings, either to play or to listen, to pay dues. If everybody who attended did so, we could generate at least $700-$800 annually before any other fundraising. We’re currently up to $400 for the year.

See the evolving new website (jeffersonguitars.org) for videos of performances of the last meetings. Over time, the website will also include additional information like ongoing gigs by members.
